It’s more fun celebrating Sinukwan
Pampanga is known to be the “Christmas Capital of the
Philippines” but it has also more to offer. Pampanga has a unique and rich
culture and tradition which is worth to showcase to the whole world. This is
the reason why we have Sinukwan Festival which promises to highlight more of
Pampanga’s culture and traditions, aside from showcasing the resiliency of
Kapampangans amid calamities. This festivity is annually organized by the Save
Pampanga Movement as a commemoration for Aring Sinukwan, known as the god of
the Kapampangans. It is said that this event was created to unite all the
communities in San Fernando as one. This event also became a part of the
Pampanga day celebration and has the same level like of the Sinulog, Masskara
and Panagbenga.
Such activities at Sinukwan Festival are “Pistang Pamangan
Kapampangan,” Lakan at Mutya ning Sinukwan, fashion show, photo and singing
contests, Kaluglug Sinukwan, Kapampangan Cultural Show, Sunis Ning Leguan, Lakan Ning
Sinukwan, Parada Ning Sinukwan, drum and lyre competitions, and the most anticipated and
exciting part of the festival, the colorful street dancing parade. Every
district in San Fernando, Pampanga has their own groups of contestants included
in the said competitions. This occasion
is truly one of the most awaited events not only in Pampanga but also on other
