The RCSF feted with honors "Himno ning Kapampangan" composer and arranger Monsignor Gregorio Canlas and deceased lyricist Serafin Lacson, represented by his poet-son Ariel, in simple "first time" rites in a restaurant in this city.
The recognition was aptly described by Canlas and Lacson as "long overdue" even as they expressed sincere appreciation for RCSF's move, facilitated by Rotarian Dave Jimenez, who himself is deep into culture and arts preservation.
The local Kapampangan hymn was officially institutionalized on April 14, 1988, when then Provincial Board led by Vice Governor Cielo Macapagal-Salgado, together with the late Governor Bren Guiao signed Resolution No. 18, making it the official song of the province.
As such, it has to be sung in official functions of schools and government bodies, as well as the private sector, right after the Philippine National Anthem.
